5:30 P.M. – VIP RECEPTION
6:00 P.M. – LECTURE: THE CASE AGAINST SUGAR
Among Americans, diabetes is more prevalent today than ever before, with obesity reaching epidemic rates and nearly 10% of children suffering from nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Gary Taubes’ new book, The Case Against Sugar, makes the convincing case that sugar is at the root of these, and other critical society-wide, health-related problems.
With his signature command of both science and straight talk, Gary Taubes will discuss America’s history with sugar: its role in our diets, our culture, and our lives. He will explain what research has shown about our addiction to sweets and clarify the arguments against sugar. He will also correct misconceptions about the relationship between sugar and weight loss and provide the perspective necessary to make informed decisions about sugar as individuals and as a society.
Ticket price includes a signed copy of The Case Against Sugar.
